Dufuna CodeCamp is a Lagos, Nigeria-based 6-month hands-on, project-centric Software Engineering Training Programme for recent graduates. The programme equips participants with skills in HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL, Algorithms & Data Structures and Software Version Control. Classes are taught both virtually (online) and physically (in Lagos).
No prior knowledge of programming is required. However, to succeed in the programme, participants must:

  • Have a dogged determination to succeed
  • Be self-starters
  • Be willing to commit 20 hours of personal study/week

Selected Applicants are required to pay a sum of ₦500,000 spread over 30 months after the third month following the programme completion.

What is Dufuna?

Dufuna Code Camp is a Lagos-based 6-month hands-on, project-centric software development training programme.

Do I need a Computer Science Degree to participate?

No, the graduates from the 2018 cohort studied a wide range of subjects including English, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Public Health, Maths Education and Computer Science.

What skills would I acquire?

You will acquire skills in Analysis & UI Design, Programming (HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL, React, Algorithms & Data Structures and Software Version Control), Problem Solving, Dependency Management, Debugging and Employability.

How long will the program last for?

The program will last for 6 months.

What's the selection process?

Shortlisted candidates will take cognitive & personality tests in September 2019.

When does the programme start?

October 2019

Will there be physical meetings?

There will be physical meetings in Lagos every other Saturday.

How long will these physical meetings last?

The physical meetings will last for 8 hours. From 9-5 every other Saturday.

Where will the physical meetups hold?


How much will I be paying to take part in this program?

Each candidate will pay back ₦500,000 spread over 30 months after the third month following the programme completion.

Can I participate remotely?

It is possible to complete the course online. Some of the 2018 graduates were able to do this with a lot of discipline.

Will I have someone to go to for help?

Each candidate will have a mentor to help when needed.

Are the meet-ups compulsory?

Oh yes! And you will pay ₦350,000 only.

Why do I have to pay back?

Our vision is to train a million software developers across Africa in 10 years. To achieve this goal, we have to ensure that the programme is sustainable.

What kind of support will I get during the programme?

Mentorship, Monthly Internet Vouchers & Lunch at meetups.

How much can I earn after the programme?

Our 2018 graduates earn between ₦40,000 and ₦100,000 per month as interns.

What are my chances of getting a job in 3 months?

There is a lot of demand for the skills acquired from the programme. 70% of the 2018 graduates secured jobs or internships within 3 months of completing the programme.

Will you help me to get a job after the programme?

We source internship opportunities from technology companies. About 50% of the internships secured by scholars in 2018 came through our network. It is your responsibility to find a job but we will support you through the process.

Are scholarships available?

We don't have any scholarships at the moment. We are actively speaking to potential donors to fund full or partial scholarships. If we are successful, we'll make the scholarships available at the end of the programme. Please note that there are no scholarship guarantees.

I am an undergraduate, can I apply?

Unfortunately, this program is only for graduates so undergraduates are not eligible.
